Open your PDF and try to select text with your cursor. If you can highlight individual words and sentences, it's a digital PDF. If clicking and dragging selects the entire page as one block (or nothing at all), it's scanned. Some PDFs are mixed - try selecting text on different pages to check.

Running balance lets us verify extraction accuracy mathematically. For each row, we check: previous balance + credits - debits = new balance. If calculations match, we know data was extracted correctly. Without running balance, we can still extract transactions but can't automatically validate accuracy.

You'll need to remove the password first. Most PDF viewers (Adobe Reader, Preview on Mac, web browsers) let you "Print to PDF" which creates an unprotected copy. You can also contact your bank to request an unprotected version. Once unlocked, upload as usual.

We detect account boundaries and separate transactions by account. Each account gets its own section in the output with clear headers. The Summary sheet shows totals per account. For best results, ensure each account section has its own opening and closing balance on the statement.

Yes, we support statements in most Latin-alphabet languages. Date formats and number formats (comma vs. period for decimals) are detected automatically. Right-to-left languages like Arabic and Hebrew have limited support. Contact us if you have specific language requirements.

Standard accounts support files up to 10MB. Larger credit packs allow files up to 50MB. For larger files, try splitting the PDF into smaller sections using a free tool like PDF24 or your system's print-to-PDF feature. Very large scanned PDFs often benefit from compression anyway.
